VOLUNTEER OF THE CfDaP

My name is Leonhard Roth and I am the new volunteer at the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer. I was born in Aachen, Germany and have lived there my entire life until I graduated from high school. I then decided to do a voluntary service. The choice fell on Oswiecim, because this place is of incomparable relevance, both culturally, historically and politically. There are only a few places in this world where the present and the past are so closely linked together, almost blending into one another, be it the numerous historical buildings, the daily walk to work near the former Auschwitz main camp, or simply the interest in history of the many visitors who come to Oswiecim every year. I therefore see it as my task to support people who come to Oswiecim to continue their education, to gain experience and to participate in commemorations, because I am convinced that the correct handling of history not only ensures that it is not forgotten, but also helps ensure that such crimes are not repeated. I would be happy to support you on your educational trip soon.
