From January 8th to 10th, 2024, the Center for Dialogue and Prayer hosted an extraordinary group of students from Schadow Gymnasium in Berlin.

This unique visit was part of their annual study trip to Auschwitz and Krakow, organized for many years. This year, we were visited by 34 students and 3 teachers.

Schadow Gymnasium, the oldest educational institution in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district of Berlin, educates approximately 1200 students. At the beginning of each school year in January, it offers them the opportunity to participate in various projects, including journeys to places of remembrance. Visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau have become a permanent fixture in the school’s calendar.

The visit’s program included guided tours with a former camp educator, workshops in the archive, and a meeting on the topic of Sonderkommando, as well as reflections and group discussions. Additionally, a tour of Krakow was planned.

We are delighted with another educational project that has been implemented in our Center for Dialogue and Prayer in Oświęcim.”
