Study Trip to Auschwitz

About 630 students attend the college in various educational programmes. The students can choose to become an educator, work in the media sector, graduate with a specialization in social and health care or in the field of art and design.

Three years ago, for the first time, the school chaplaincy offered a Memorial trip to Auschwitz for all students. It was important for them not only to see the Auschwitz main camp and the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, but also to have enough time to think about history and to talk about their impressions. The group stayed at the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer for four days, taking advantage of the opportunities for conversation and the company of the Centre’s team. At the end of each day there was a meditation. The students also visited the Archives department of Museum Auschwitz. This gave them the opportunity not only to perceive, but also to become active.

Since the students in the college follow different educational paths, it is particularly exciting to experience how the many small groups grow together over the course of the days as a result of the common confrontation with Auschwitz.

For the long journey from the Sauerland, Germany to Poland, the students also have time to visit Krakow and Wroclaw. Altogether the trip lasts a week.
