“Remember, Don’t Forget…”

Since 2011 teachers and pupils from the high school “Remigianum” in Borken, Germany have been coming to Oswiecim. In 2019 the theme of their visit is “Remember, Don’t Forget”. 2 Teachers and 35 pupils will come in order to learn from this dark chapter of German history during the time of the National Socialism. This will give the students insight into the cruel fate of Jews and other persecuted people. Especially in this day and age, with a resurgence of radical right-wing sentiments in Germany and many other European countries, it seems important to sensitize students to the fact that human dignity is inviolable and the life of every human being has to be respected – regardless of race, religion and gender.
