“A journey of Confrontation against Forgetting”

20 persons from the Evangelical educational Institut Hospitalhof Stuttgart in cooperation with the community newspaper for Württemberg, will take part in a study tour to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

“Racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance, increase again in some parts of our society. Journeys to Memorial places of crimes of National Socialism, and the encounter with time witnesses, can prevent forgetting. This study tour will enable the participants to exchange their thoughts, and include time for their own reflections. The leader of the group will be Volker Häberlein.

Mr. Häberlein was first a social worker at the Evangelical community Stuttgart and then head of the department of services for young people. He organised numerous trips to Auschwitz for more than 500 people of different ages. He published his experiences in 2014 in a small book under the title “Travel to Auschwitz“. It includes poems, letters, texts and pictures of former participants.
