„Reading Traces – against Oblivion”
From 14th until 18th of February 2013 young people will take part in a seminar and educational trip to the memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau. The aim of the trip is to broaden the knowledge acquired in education at school on the one hand, and in addition, to sensitize the young people to the German past. Taking part in this “journey to the darkest chapter of German history” will not only confront the young people with an injustice system which cost millions of lives, but as well will raise numerous questions: what was the extent of the political thinking more than 65 years ago? What is man – and what is he capable of? In this manner they will learn to empathize with perpetrators and victims, in order to be able to learn from history.
